The Niles-Buchanan YMCA recently announced that Kelley Stein has joined its team as an education coordinator for the Learning Tree Preschool.
Stein has a bachelor of science degree in elementary education with a reading endorsement from Indiana University. Her background includes teaching kindergarten Title One in the South Bend Community Schools and being a fourth grade teacher at Corpus Christie School. She has also been subbing for the Niles Community Schools district for the last year.
“I am very happy to be working with Kelley Stein. Kelley brings a new excitement to our program. She has many new and fresh ideas about learning and is eager to share them with the children,” said Kim Snouwaert, Learning Tree Preschool.
The goal of the Learning Tree Preschool is to provide children with the skills they need to enter Kindergarten. Preschool provides initial school experiences, while giving the children the academic foundation to build further academic skills. Children of the Learning Tree Preschool get the benefits of one-on-one YMCA swim lessons, gross motor skilled development in the gym class, and nutrition integrated in the curriculum. Learning Tree Preschool is a state licensed preschool.
Learning Tree Preschool is accepting registration for the 2016-2017 school years. There are three programs offered: Two days per week preschool (early 3 to 4 year-olds), three days per week (late 3 to 4 year-olds) and four days per week (4 to 5 year-olds).
The Niles-Buchanan YMCA believes that values and skills learned early are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests to realize their greatest potential.
