Two people have been arrested following another crackdown on a meth lab within city limits Wednesday, according to a release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
According to police, detectives with the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on a residence located on the 400 block of E. Railroad St. in the City of Dowagiac, which authorities suspected was a production site for methamphetamine.
During the search, the officers located a one-pot methamphetamine lab along with several items used to manufacture the drug. They also found methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia.
Two suspects, a 34-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man, were arrested on charges of manufacture of methamphetamine, operating/maintaining a methamphetamine lab, operating/maintaining a lab producing hazardous waste, operating a drug house and possession of methamphetamine. Their identities are being withheld pending their arraignment in Cass County court.
The operation comes less than a week following another drug bust in Dowagiac, when police discovered multiple methamphetamine labs inside a residence on E. Division St. on Jan. 7, resulting in the arrest of a single person.
Police are continuing to investigate Wednesday’s incident.
