Eddies use 42-0 run to top Chieftains

Visiting Edwardsburg used a 42-0 run to turn a tie game into a 55-15 Wolverine Conference girls basketball victory Friday night.
The Chieftains (0-8) got off to a fast start, leading 5-1 in the opening minutes of the contest.
The Eddies (5-2) tied the game at 5-5 and ended the first quarter deadlocked at 7-7 as both teams struggled offensively.
Both teams scored a basket in the first two minutes of the second quarter, but Edwardsburg would use a 19-0 run to end the second quarter and took a 28-9 lead into halftime.
The run continued throughout the third quarter and into the fourth as the Eddies outscored Dowagiac 21-0 in the third to open up a 49-9 advantage.
Savannah Dixon led Edwardsburg and all scorers with 16 points, while Noelle Kraus added 11 and Kaitlyn Zarycki eight.
Taylor Hulett scored six points to lead the Chieftains, who also got five points from Amiyah Smith. Smith also had eight rebounds.
