A Cassopolis driver was hospitalized after a collision with another vehicle Monday morning in Jefferson Township.

Fran Striz, 60, was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident occurred just after 8 a.m. on M-62 near Harris Street in Cass County.

A sheriff’s department is reporting that Joseph Letizia, 55, of Granger, Indiana, was traveling north on M-62 when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the centerline and struck Striz’s vehicle.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and both drivers were using seatbelts, according to the sheriff’s department. Airbags deployed in both vehicles.
