Brandywine put an exclamation point on its final pre-Christmas girls basketball game.

The Bobcats (5-0, 3-0) got five 3-pointers from four different senior players — Emily Erwin with two and Alyssa Bolen, Makenna Hartline and Michaela Hartline one apiece — in the first quarter and went on to a 67-24 BCS victory against Bridgman.

Brandywine wound up making 11 shots behind the arc and got plenty of playing time for 11 girls.

Erwin wound up with three treys and a team-best 13 points (eight in the first half).

Makenna Hartline tallied 11 points (seven in the first half) and pulled down eight rebounds.

Jaleesa Garner slashed her way to eight of her 10 points for the Cats in the first half while Alyssa Bolen dropped all of her nine before halftime.

Makena Bowen collected seven rebounds for the Brandywine.

Michaela Hartline and junior Mia Stella buried two 3-pointers apiece for the victors.

“We’re hungry,” Cats coach Josh Hood said. “Everyday in practice our girls have to strive to get better.”

Brandywine, which now looks forward to an appearance in the Motor City Shootout on Sunday, Dec 27 against Class A power Southfield at the Palace of Auburn Hills near Detroit, extended its home win streak to 71.

“They got after it and played really well tonight,” Bridgman coach Todd Hendricks said of the Cats. “They are a really good team.

“They feed off their 3-pointers. It gets them all excited and really revs up their press.”

Brandywine forded Bridgman into 35 turnovers.

The Bees (1-5, 0-3) got 11 points from Amara Mavrakis (eight in the first half). Madelynne Keller gathered nine rebounds for Bridgman.

Brandywine has now beaten five opponents by a combined 281-160, beating Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, Comstock, Cassopolis and Bridgman at home and Buchanan on the road.
