Vikings pull away from Knights in second half

On a night when both teams struggled offensively, host Niles outscored Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 18-12 in the second half to pick up a 35-25 SMAC girls basketball victory Tuesday night.
Niles (3-2) led 9-2 after one quarter and 17-13 at the half.
The Vikings opened up a seven-point (24-17) lead heading into the final quarter.
Niles’ Maya Brookins was the only player to reach double figures as she scored 10 points.
The Vikings also got eight points from Elyse Zimmerman and six points from Lajan Mitchell.
