SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Tickets are now on sale for one of Michiana’s favorite holiday music traditions, Home for the Holidays, performed by South Bend Symphony Orchestra on at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at the Morris Performing Arts Center.

This will be long-time Music Director Tsung Yeh’s final Christmas spectacular appearance. Yeh, a native of Shanghai, China, is celebrating his 27th and final season with the orchestra.

“I look forward to experiencing my first Home for the Holidays,” said the new Executive Director Agnieszka Rakhmatullaev, who began her tenure at the end of September. “Family traditions are so important, especially during the holiday season. I am proud that so many Michiana-area families include these special SBSO concerts as a part of their tradition.”

The orchestra is bringing back several holiday favorites including “Sleigh Ride,” “A Holly Jolly Sing-Along,” “Ave Maria,” and a joyous Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s popular choral masterpiece, Messiah.

Internationally acclaimed soprano Kimberly Eileen Jones is the guest vocalist for this year’s Home for the Holidays. Jones’ breathtaking performances have been praised throughout her career, resulting in a litany of awards including a George London grant, two Sullivan grants and three grants from the MacAllister Awards Competition. Additionally, Jones was nominated for the NAACP’s Best Supporting Actress Award for her portrayal of Clara in the Houston Grand Opera’s international production of Porgy and Bess.
