Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s David Brogan

David Brogan is a senior on the Dowagiac tennis team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
DB: Being a two-time all-conference winner.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
DB: My height.
What has been a hardship in your life?
DB: Losing my aunt and both grandfathers.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
DB: Both my mother and father for giving me the opportunity to use my talents and to play for the great city of Dowagiac.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
DB: When we go into a tiebreaker.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
DB: During one of the games in a match I walked over to the bench to get some water when I was reminded by my doubles partner Mitch (Warsko) that the game wasn’t over.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
DB: I go up to the courts and hit some serves and take a little jog around the courts.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
DB: Lacrosse.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
DB: My parents and sister because they always give me a loud roar after we win a point.
How would you give away $50,000?
DB: I would give the money to the less fortunate here in Dowagiac to help them get back on their feet.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
DB: The Notre Dame golf team.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
DB: Be working on my senior thesis.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
DB: Playing in windy conditions.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
DB: No tiebreaker.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
DB: That we were the first to call the match fair instead of cheating.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
DB: Taking the ACT, of course.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
DB: My father overcoming three different cancers.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
DB: Golf, because I have always had a club in my hand since the age of three.
