Dowagiac police seek suspect in shooting

Dowagiac authorities are searching for the whereabouts of a man suspected of shooting at a fleeing vehicle at Walter Ward Park, according to a release from the Dowagiac Police Department.
As of Wednesday afternoon, oolice were seeking 19-year-old Sentrelle Murray, of Benton Harbor, in connection to a shooting incident that police believed happened on or around Sept. 18 at the Dowagiac park.
Based on reports given to police, Murray got into a physical altercation with a Dowagiac man sometime during daylight hours outside Ward Park, on Thickstun Street. Police believe that the other man attempted to run from the scene by hopping into a vehicle driven by another man; in response, Murray produced a handgun and shot at the fleeing vehicle.
Police say two young children were also inside the vehicle. No one was reported harmed during the incident.
Dowagiac police have a three-count felony warrant for Murray, for carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Murray has a medium build, with black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 155 pounds, and is 5 foot 7 inches in height. He is believed to currently have short hair.
Residents are urged to exercise caution should they encounter him, as he is believed to be armed. People should contact police immediately.
