CENTREVILLE — The Dowagiac golf team turned in its best performance of the season as it finished sixth at the Wolverine Conference Jamboree at Island Hills hosted by Sturgis Wednesday.
The Chieftains shot a season best 240.
Host Sturgis was the jamboree winner with a 186, which was 17 strokes better than runner-up South Haven, which shot 203.
The Trojan’s Jessica Griffieon shot 44 to earn medalist honors.
Dowagiac senior Kelsey Smith shot 50 to earn a spot in the individual top 10 Wednesday. The Chieftains also got a 59 from Luda Dickson-French.
“We had our best outing of the year and we can still do better,” Dowagiac coah Bob Turner said. “Both of our third and fourth players have shot much better than shoes scores, so it is possible to shoot better if everyone has a good day at the same time.”
