Niles Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly robbing the Admiral Gas Station on Oak Street in city limits earlier this month.
Anthony Martice Sharp, 30, was arraigned Sept. 11 in Berrien County Court in Niles on one count of unarmed robbery, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Police said they believe Sharp acted alone in the robbery, which occurred just after midnight Sept. 8 at the Admiral Gas Station at 1701 Oak St.
The store clerk told police that a subject walked into the store, placed a mask over his face and grabbed her neck with his arm. The suspect then ordered her to open the cash register from which he proceeded to take an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect fled on foot and there were no injuries during the incident.
A Niles Police K-9 unit tracked the suspect to the area of 17th and Broadway streets where the track went cold.
The next morning, Niles detectives received information that a witness who observed video surveillance footage recognized the suspect as Anthony Sharp.
Police located Sharp in a vehicle in the area of Huntly Road in Cass County. He was taken into custody without incident.
