Chieftain soccer team beat Bangor 5-0

BANGOR — The Dowagiac soccer team kicked off its season with a 5-0 non-conference win over host Bangor Monday.

The Chieftains led 3-0 at halftime on goals by Colin Carpenter, Antonio Brito and Gage Williams. Brito and Williams also picked up assists in the opening 40 minutes.

Williams scored again in the 57th minute off an assist from Brito and Carpenter scored his second goal in the 76th minute off an assist from Williams.

“We did a nice job opening up and moving the ball,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “We were able to keep offensive pressure throughout the game. It was a complete team win. It was nice to start the season with a win. I am looking forward to seeing this team grow and improve throughout the season.”

Dowagiac outshot Bangor 12-3. Nick Labadie had three saves.
