Dowagiac volleyball opens season at Cassopolis Classic

Eight teams will compete in the Cassopolis Classic Volleyball Tournament at Ross Beatty Jr./Sr. High School Saturday.

Pool play begins at 9 a.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students or $15 for families. Doors will open at 8 a.m.

The White Pool will consist of Cassopolis, Countryside, New Buffalo and Eau Claire. The Blue Pool will consist of Michigan Lutheran, River Valley, Bangor and Dowagiac.

The top finishers in each pool will receive a bye in the opening round of championship play.

The second place team from each pool will face the third place team from each pool in the first round.

Pool play will consist of two games with rally scoring to 25 points.

Championship round matches will be determined by the best of three sets. The first two games of rally scoring will be to 25. If a third game is necessary, it will be played to 15 points.

First and second place teams will receive a trophy. Championship team members will receive medals.
