The eighth annual Sandhill Crane All Trail 1/2 Marathon, 10K, 5K and kids fun run will be held Oct. 10 at Lawless County Park in Vandalia.
The 1/2 marathon will begin at 9 a.m. with the 10K trail race set to begin at 9:30 a.m. The 5K trail race begins at 10 a.m. with the kids fun run getting under way at 10:05 a.m.
“I love this course,” race director Ron Gunn said. “It is a real jewel in Michigan with its non-repeat all trail course. It includes seven bridge crossings, several small lakes and some challenging hills. And if a runner is lucky enough they will see a sandhill crane.”
Complete entry information can be obtained online at CairnStoneAdventureTours.com or by contacting Gunn at (574) 215-4779 or by email at Ron@CairnStoneTours.com.
Cost is $24 if entered before Oct. 3 or $29 after that date. There is a $5 per car park entry fee.
Custom designed long-sleeve performance tech shirts will be awarded to all finishers.
New this year will be gold, silver and bronze medals with the race logo awarded to the top three finishers in each age group.
Chip timing will be used and all finishers from Cass County and Niles will be listed in a special honor roll published in the Dowagiac Daily News, Niles Daily Star, Edwardsburg Argus and Cassopolis Vigilant.
The races are conducted for the benefit of the Cass County Parks and the Dowagiac Rotary Club.
Music will be provided by D.J. Bill Craft and post-race refreshments, including fruit, Gatorade, popsicles and water, will be available.
Both runners and walkers are encouraged to participate.
