Detour signs can be infuriating.

They can really get under your skin. You can’t make that left turn where you have been doing it since you started driving. You have to go blocks and blocks out of the normal way.

That is how I used to think, but since I became a member of Optimist International, I find myself thinking differently. Now those detour signs mean that my community will be a better place to live and get around. There can be economic growth from these improvements and that is good for all of us.

So hurray for detour signs! Bring ‘em on!

They won’t be there forever and when they are gone, things will be better.
