Garden volunteer opportunities

9:30 a.m. Saturdays, 5 p.m. Wednesdays

Have fun and make new friends while helping Fernwood maintain its garden collections. On Saturday mornings, guests can join Fernwood’s horticulture staff for coffee and grounds with a relaxing cup of coffee on the Café decks, followed by a few hours of light garden work.

And on Wednesday, anyone can join the Wine and Weed Wednesday volunteers for an hour or so of light work, followed by time to enjoy good company and a local vintage on the Café decks.

Summer Yoga

12:15 to 1:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Saturdays

Practice the fundamentals of yoga at Fernwood with instructors Deirdre Guthrie, Greta Hurst, and Krista Kotlarz, on Wednesdays and Saturdays this summer. Class will be held in the garden, weather permitting. Walk-ins are welcome. Cost is $10 or $8 for members.

 

Family Summer Free Day Thursday

July 16

Everyone can enjoy free admission to Fernwood on July 16 for a special Family Summer Free Day. Admission includes Fernwood’s popular Railway Garden, Nature Adventure Garden, Sculpture Fernwood, Take Five, and much more.

 

Fernwood’s Day Camps

Fernwood Friday

5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 24

Fernwood Friday is an annual outdoor concert in partnership with WVPE Public Radio.

As part of the WVPE Summer Concert Series, Fernwood welcomes Kris Brownlee, rising contemporary jazz saxophonist and Megawave recording artist. Known for his smooth notes and instrumental versatility, Brownlee fuses vintage talent with accented grooves and contemporary soulful arrangements.

The event will take place on Fernwood’s Green on Friday, July 24. Food by Chef Tim, beer and wine are available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, family and friends. Fernwood and WVPE members are admitted free. Cost is $5 for all others.
