Giant Bobcat paw prints have been appearing on driveways all over Niles this past week.
It isn’t an out-of-control feline, it is a fundraising effort by the Brandywine High School’s varsity boys basketball team.
Residents can have a paw print painted on their driveway for $30. It will cost $25 for an additional one.
Nate Knapp, head coach of the Bobcats, said the money would be used to fund the team’s trip to a summer basketball team camp July 12-14 in Adrian.
“We went to the camp four or five years ago and it was a great team bonding experience,” Knapp said.
The Bobcats painted a handful of driveways on Wednesday, which was the first day of the fundraiser.
Knapp said they would continue through Friday, and maybe after they get back from camp, if the demand is there.
Eleven or 12 students are expected to attend the camp at about $200 a person.
“Whatever we get from the fundraiser will go toward the total,” Knapp said.
Each paw print is about 4 feet by 6 feet and is painted on using exterior paint.
“It might last two years,” Knapp said.
The team thanked Sherwin-Williams and Lowe’s for donating paint.
