Leonard Earl “Len” Booth, 88, of Niles, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 2, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Earl and Henrietta (Byers) Booth.
On Nov. 19, 1970, in Huntsville, Alabama, Len married the former Beverly Ann Gipson, with whom he celebrated, last year, the 44th anniversary of their wedding. She preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2015.
Len attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina and retired from the former Express Freight Lines Company in South Bend where he worked many years as a dispatcher. He formerly owned and operated the State Line Party Store in Niles with his wife. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their van.
Surviving family includes daughters, Roxanne Reed of Niles, Brenda (Lance) Swank of Granger, Indiana, Tracy (Dave) Luzadre of Niles, and Pam (Scott) Zehrung of Edwardsburg, and son Len (Sherri) Booth of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren: Brian Turrell, James (Yuki) Huntsman, Richie Reed, Baylee Swank, Jarod Swank, Ashley Luzadre, Sammi Luzadre, Tori Robb, Kristy Robb, Kalie Robb, Jacob Chlupacek, and Caitlin Robb; great-grandchildren, Coley Robb, Abbie Miller, and Karina Huntsman. He is also survived by two sisters, Janice Rozine of Iowa and Jeanne Johnson of Kansas.
Len was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, son Billy Robb who passed on July 7, 1999; grandsons Johnathon and Andrew Luzadre, and one sister, Lorene Koltovich.
The family of Len Booth will gather privately to honor his life and share memories. Per his request there will be no services or viewing. Contributions in memory of Len may be made to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, Saint Joseph, Michigan 49085. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
