Berrien County Commissioners to meet in Niles

The Berrien County Board of Commissioners will meet at the Berrien County Courthouse in Niles at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The board, which meets regularly in St. Joseph, hosts night meetings four times per year to allow residents who cannot attend the normal meetings because of work and other time conflicts a chance to attend. The night meetings rotate around the county so residents all over the region are able to attend without much travel at some point in the year.

“It’s kind of like a meet and greet,” said John Klimik, Berrien County Commissioner for District 12. “It’s good for people to see who represent them and see how we do business for the county.”

Jim Curran, Berrien County Commissioner for the 11th district, said the program for the Thursday meeting will be community service officers from the county and state.

“I’m proud of how we’ve been able to stay in the black this year, and be open to the public,” Klimik said.

Klimik said topics of discussion could include problems the county has been having with various senior centers and potential solution to county road issues.

The south county courthouse for Berrien County is located at 1205 N. Front St., in Niles.
