Grace Younger is a sophomore on the Dowagiac soccer team.
What has been one of your greatestaccomplishments as an athlete?
GY: Making varsity.
What has been one of your biggest isappointments as an athlete?
GY: Having to sit out for two weeks because of my ankle.
What has been a hardship in your life?
GY: Having snapping hip syndrome.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
GY: My mother. She is raising me as a single parent.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
GY: During a penalty kick.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
GY: When I ran to the wrong end of the field.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
GY: I do my physical therapy exercises and go for jogs.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
GY: Either rugby or lacrosse if we had those sports.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
GY: My mom. She always supports me.
How would you give away $50,000?
GY: The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
GY: The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
GY: Get back into horseback riding/shows.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
GY: Dive for the ball.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
GY: You could be more aggressive without getting carded.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
GY: You’re a really good goalkeeper.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
GY: Penalty kick shootout. Yes.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
GY: A front flip throw-in.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
GY: Horseback riding because it clears my mind.
