Two injured in crash near Dowagiac

Two people were injured following a traffic accident that occurred outside Dowagiac Monday morning, according a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Kayla Ashby, 24, and Ashley Lynch, 29, both of Dowagiac, were transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, after their vehicle was hit by another vehicle at the intersection of M-62 and Brush Lake Road in Silver Creek Township. According to police, Ashby was driving westbound when, at around 10:35 a.m., her vehicle was hit by an automobile driven by 24-year-old Arturo Segura, of Riverside, Illinois, who failed to yield the right of way at the intersection.
Segura and his passenger, 28-year-old Allison Greenman, of Chicago, were treated and released at the scene.
Both the drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Assisting deputies at the scene were crews with the Indian Lake Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance Service.
