Bridge watchers unite

A few weeks ago, an older gentleman with a British accent stopped by our office asking about the Niles Main Street Bridge replacement project.

When will it be finished?

What are they doing now?

Are they still on schedule?

A couple days later, a woman called the office asking the same types of questions about the bridge.

I heard they were behind?

Do you know why?

What’s going on with the bridge?

Another gentleman calls our office just about any time something visually appealing happens to the bridge — like when the last pier came down or when workers began pouring concrete.

We even have another person who periodically drops off photos he’s taken of the bridge.

We have received the message.

You are interested in the bridge.

We are too.

So, beginning next week, we will provide a bridge project update every Friday in the Niles Daily Star.

The lead engineer on the project, Chris Jacobs, said he’d be happy to give us the information we need to satisfy Niles’ curious bridge watchers.

We hope you enjoy the new feature and thank you for letting us know what you want to see in your local paper.
