Wolverine Conference Baseball Tournament begins today

The Wolverine Conference Baseball Tournament gets under way today with the top four teams in each division squaring off.
The bottom two teams in the East and West Divisions will play in the consolation bracket.
Edwardsburg, the West Division champion will host Plainwell, which finished fourth in the East Division at 4 p.m. today with the winner advancing to Saturday’s semifinals in Kalamazoo at the home of the Kalamazoo Growlers minor league baseball team against the winner of the Sturgis-South Haven.
The Trojans were runner-up in the East, while the Rams were third in the West.
East Division champion Vicksburg will host Coloma and Paw Paw will host Three Rivers.
The losers of the first round games will play a doubleheader at the site of the highest seed.
Dowagiac will travel to Otsego for a 4 p.m. doubleheader today, while Berrien Springs will host Allegan.
The winners and losers will then square off Friday at the site of the highest seed.
Edwardsburg was 10-0 in West Division games, while Plainwell went 3-5 in the East.
The Eddies are led by Jesse Reinebold, who hit .418, which was sixth best in the West Division. Dalton Raymond his .370 in league games, which was good for 12th in the division.
Joe Raab was 3-0 with an ERA of 0.34 for the Eddies on the mound, best in the division. He struck out 39 in 20.1 innings of work. Damion Pompey was 2-1 with an ERA of 1.08.
Dowagiac went 0-10 in the division, while Otsego was 3-7.
Eric Walker hit .500 for the Chieftains against division competition, which was second best. Matt Smith hit .371 to finish 11th in the division.
