Brandywine outhits Mendon, but has to settle for a split

MENDON — Despite outhitting host Mendon 11-7 in the opening game, Brandywine had to settle for a split against the Hornets in BCS Athletic Conference non-divisional baseball Tuesday.

Mendon won the first game 6-3 before the Bobcats rebounded to take the nightcap 8-5.

Matt Vaughn took the loss for Brandywine. Chandler Plew also took the hill for the Bobcats.

Brandywine (10-2) had 11 hits compared to seven for the Hornets. Zack Grishaber was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Seth Brown, Hunter Janowiak and Austin Balos also had two hits.

In the second game, Toby Fox scattered six hits to earn the victory.

Brandywine had 13 hits in the nightcap, led by Seth Brown who was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Plew and Joe Covyeou each had two hits.
