When it comes to college football, Cass County Family Court Judge Sue Dobrich is a huge Notre Dame fan.

So picking rival Ohio State to win the national championship did not come easy to her.

She selected the Buckeyes to beat the Oregon Ducks 34-28. Ohio State defeated Oregon 42-20.

“When they beat Alabama, who I thought was the best team in the country, that was my No. 1 reason,” Dobrich said. “And No. 2 was Urban Meyer. Not that Oregon was not a good team, but Urban Meyer is one of the two best coaches along with Nick Saban.”

She was the lone Daily News Football Forecaster to select the Buckeyes.

Dobrich is one of the original Football Forecasters.

She is no stranger to winning championships having won the 2014 title as well.

Dobrich is a sports fan by nature. She takes in all the information she can before turning in her picks each week.

“I listen to Mike & Mike, I watch ESPN so I gather information from Lou Holtz and Mark May and others,” she said. “I religiously listen to who is going to have what teams. I check on injuries and I look at the line.”

Dobrich also takes to others who share her passion.

“I love sports so it is a topic I like to talk about, so I will talk to others and say ‘hey, what do you think?’ So between all that I put it all together and decide — other than that I always pick Notre Dame.”

Dobrich said she liked the new Bowl Challenge Series to wrap up the year.

“I think it added some flavor to it,” she said.

Dobrich was 20-11 in bowl games.
