Brandywine crushes Dream Academy 79-49

For the first time since the 2011-12 season, the Brandywine boys basketball team will finish the regular season with a winning record.

Host Brandywine defeated Benton Harbor Dream Academy 79-49 in a non-conference game Monday night.

The win was the 11th of the season for the Bobcats, who were led offensively by Austin Knapp’s game-high 25 points.

Brandywine finished the 2011-12 season with an 11-9 record and advanced to the Class C District finals before falling to Bridgman and finishing the year at 12-10

After a close first quarter, Brandywine turned a 19-17 lead into a 40-26 halftime advantage by outscoring the Toros 21-9 in the second quarter.

The Bobcats cruised home from there.

Hunter Slaughter added nine points, while Cole Searles finished with eight points for Brandywine.
