Rodriguez gets 100th win at Quincy

QUINCY — Senior Charlie Rodriguez picked up his 100th career win as the Brandywine wrestling team finished seventh at the Shawn Cockrell Memorial at Quincy High School Saturday.

Rodriguez captured the 215-pound championship as he pinned Logan Lautzenheiser of Homer in 46 seconds.

Coldwater won the team title with 175.5 points, while Homer was second with 156 points and White Pigeon third with 147.

Napoleon was fourth (118), Dowagiac fifth (117.5) and Brooklyn Columbia Central sixth (98.

The Bobcats finished with 91.5 points.

Rounding out the top 10 were Grass Lake, Coloma and Comstock. In all, 18 teams took part in the invitational.

Brandywine’s Michael Kachur was second at 103-pounds, while Jesse Lochmondy split third place with Shawn Sirk of Dowagiac and Kaci Lintz was fourth.

Dowagiac’s Aubrey Huston captured the 145-pound championship with a technical fall victory over Jacob Todd of Union City.

The Chieftains’ Tristan Howard pinned John Bangert of Homer in 50 seconds to win the 285-pound title.

The Chieftains’ Tom Smith finished fourth at 171-pounds.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday as they host Bronson and Colon. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
