Dowagiac’s Mara Nelson fakes right, goes left and pulls up for two against Paw Paw Friday night (Leader video/SCOTT NOVAK).

Visiting Paw Paw outscored Dowagiac 19-8 in the second quarter on its way to an easy 53-30 Wolverine Conference West Division girls basketball victory Friday night.

The win raised the Redskins record to 3-0 in the West and 4-2 overall. Dowagiac drops to 1-2 in the West and 1-5 overall.

Leading just 12-7 after one, Paw Paw turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter and took a 31-15 lead into the second half.

The Redskins led 42-23 after three.

Kayli Bowen led Paw Paw with 14 points. Chloe Salman added 13.

Angel Parker, Jenesis Green and Mara Nelson all had six points for the Chieftains.
