Dowagiac wrestlers split with Allegan, Otsego

PAW PAW — The Dowagiac wrestling team split a pair of Wolverine Conference matches at a quadrangular meet at Paw Paw High School Wednesday.

The Chieftains fell to perennial state powerhouse Allegan 66-7, but rebounded to defeat Otsego 53-21.
The split left Dowagiac with a 5-4 overall record. The Chieftains are now 1-2 in conference matches.
Winning two matches on Wednesday for Dowagiac were Shawn Sirk at 130-pounds and Nathan Tackitt at 140- and 145-pounds.
Going 1-0 for the Chieftains were Kris Wigent-Kenyan (135), Mason Hiler (171) and Daniel Rosales (215).
Dowagiac will wrap up the 2014 portion of its schedule at the second annual Blue Devil Classic at Gull Lake High School Saturday. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
