THREE RIVERS — The Dowagiac girls cross country team picked up its first win of the season as it defeated Coloma 15-50 at a Wolverine Conference tri-meet hosted by Three Rivers Tuesday.

The Chieftains were defeated by the host Wildcats 15-50.

Dowagiac’s DeYonte Sullivan was the overall boys’ winner with a time of 19:33, but the Chieftains were swept by Three Rivers and Coloma.

“We continue to focus on individual performance and pleased with the progress of most of our runners,” Dowagiac coach Dan VandenHeede said. “This was a very tough course and we still had two runners set personal best times. All the runners ran the course well. It was exciting to see DeYonte win the race.”
