VICKSBURG — Jorge Ruiz scored a pair of goals and had an assist as the Dowagiac soccer team defeated host Vicksburg 4-1 in a Wolverine Conference non-divisional match Monday.

Ruiz had a goal and an assist in the first half as the Chieftains (3-4) opened up a 3-1 advantage.

Also scoring in the first half were Nick Carpenter, off a Ruiz assist) and Gage Williams.

We played an entire 80 minutes,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said.

Ruiz’s second goal came in the 68th minute.
