Bangor nips Dowagiac soccer team 4-3

Visiting Bangor outscored Dowagiac 3-1 in the opening half of a non-league soccer match and went on to defeat the Chieftains 4-3 Monday.

Dowagiac scored a pair of goals in the final 40 minutes, but could not get the equalizer and dropped to 1-4 on the year.

“We played a solid 60 minutes and could not overcome the lack of effort in the first 20 minutes,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “For Wednesday’s game against Coloma we are going to focus on playing 80 total minutes.”

Scoring for the Chieftains were Gage Williams, Jose Lopez and Scout Peterson.

Jeremiah Guernsey had a pair of assists, while Ruiz assisted on the Peterson goal.

Dowagiac outshot the Vikings 14-13.

Nick Labadie and Harpeet Singh combined for eight saves.

Hugo Alcaraz scored all three goals for Bangor.
