Dowagiac tennis plays to 4-4 draw

PLAINWELL — Visiting Dowagiac won three out of four singles flights to gain a split against Plainwell Wednesday.

The Chieftains and Trojans played to a 4-4 draw as Zach Davis, Vaughn Herter and Ethan Wagner all picked up victories in singles competition.

Dowagiac’s other victory came at No. 3 doubles where Justin Yakim and Colin Rafferty won in straight sets.

“We played well at singles and doubles,” Dowagiac coach Sonny Swartz said. “I’m really happy for are one singles, he’s been working hard to improve his record so I hope this is a start of a great season. Our one doubles played another tough match, but came up short. I believe that they will turn their luck around and it starts with Lakeshore next week. But overall I’m happy with are team progression so far this season.”
