Niles NAACP to hold freedom banquet

Professor Theo Williams Jr. will be the speaker at the Niles Branch National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s 72nd Anniversary Freedom Fund Banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 21.

The event will be held at the Niles Senior Center, 1109 Bell Rd., Niles.

Tickets are $30 per adult and $15 per child. The theme is “all for justice and equality.”

Williams is a faculty member of Bethel College’s communications and media arts department.

The Niles Branch NAACP was chartered March 9, 1942 to serve the Michigan communities of Niles, Buchanan, Cassopolis, Calvin Center and Vandalia. Founded in 1909, the NAACP’s mission is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.
