A Union man died and two others were injured as the result of a two-car accident involving a truck and a semi-tractor trailer Thursday morning near Five Point Road east of Edwardsburg.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Jon Stone, 54, the driver of the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stone’s passenger, Donald Bardo, 48, of Union, was transported to Elkhart General Hospital.

The driver of the semi, Robert Arnold, 50, of Sparta, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

The accident took place on Old M-205 in Mason Township at 8:24 a.m.

A pickup truck driven by Stone was heading south on Five Points Road and failed to yield to the semi at the intersection of Five Points Road and US-12. The semi was traveling west on Old M-205.

Police said Stone was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol was not a factor.
