Vikings split with Mattawan

MATTAWAN — The Niles baseball team had to settle for a split with host Mattawan Tuesday.

Despite outhitting the Wildcats in the first game 5-4, the Vikings lost a 3-2 decision.

Niles (10-6) rebounded to take the nightcap 7-2.

Tyler Clutter and Wyatt Thornton both doubled for the Vikings in the opening game.

Cody Thornton, who was the winning pitcher with relief help from Austin Lintz, doubled in the second game for Niles.
