Behnke picks up 200th career win in Chieftains sweep

BERRIEN SPRINGS — Visiting Dowagiac improved to 10-1 with a sweep of Berrien Springs in a Wolverine Conference West Division softball doubleheader Friday.
The Chieftains won the nightcap 5-0 behind the three-hit pitching of Sabrina Ruiz, who struck out 12.
In the nightcap, veteran Dowagiac coach Mike Behnke earned his 200th career victory as the Chieftains won 11-1 in five innings.
Taylor Hulett remained perfect in the circle as she tossed a three-hitter.
Kourtney Mitchell went 4-for-7 in the doubleheader with a double, three RBIs and four runs scored. Riley Daly and Mickie Kiggins both doubled in the first game for the Chieftains. Alyssa Allen doubled and drove in two runs in the nightcap. Emily Roach had four RBIs in the doubleheader.
