Bobcats open season with victory

The Brandywine girls tennis team won its season opening tournament at the Lakeland Athletic Club Saturday.

The Bobcats scored 29 points to edge Galesburg-Augusta for the Brandywine Indoor championship. The Rams finished with 25 points.

South Haven was third with 16 points and Constantine fourth with 10.

Brandywine swept the doubles flights, but had just one winner in singles competition.

Abbey Cole was the champion at No. 1 singles for the Bobcats.

Winning in doubles were Katie Rose and Alli Srmek, Allie Wilson and Genesis Martin, Rachael Szilagyi and Alyssa Bolen, as well as Krystal Bunch and Shelby Fortuna.
