Payton received her bachelor of science in nursing from Mountain State University and her masters of nursing education from Ball State University.

She has recently completed her Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Ball State University in February. Payton has been in the nursing profession for over 24 years, with additional experience teaching at both Lake Michigan College and Southwestern Michigan College as an adjunct instructor.

“After working in various capacities I decided to further my education and, thus, be of more assistance to our local families.  To be able to understand the needs of my patients, to know them, love them and finally, have the ability to address their needs and promote healing gives me satisfaction that can only come from helping others,” Payton said of her move from nursing to becoming a family nurse practitioner.

Payton has started her career with CFCN at the Cassopolis Family Clinic and will move to her permanent location at the Niles Community Health Center on April 14.  The Niles Community Health Center is now open and accepting new patients at 24 North St. Joseph Avenue, Suite G, Niles, conveniently located across the street from Niles Community Hospital. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
