The women of the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church are working together for our 43rd Annual Salad Smorgasbord and Style Show coming up on March 20.

Ticket sales began on Feb. 23rd immediately after church service and there are still tickets available. The goal is to sell 400 tickets to ladies of the community for a fun evening of delicious hot chicken salad, (a favorite to many) and the many salads donated by the women of the church and “many” friends of the church.

“We are so blessed for our friends help to make this fundraising event such a success,” Tanda Stiffler said. “It takes a lot of salads for 400 women and the men as well as they serve all the ladies first and then they feast on lots of the delicious salads afterwards. We could not do this without the help of ‘many’ caring friends. Our goal is to make the salad smorgasbord a fun time for women to socialize and get a chance to win the gorgeous handmade quilt that our ladies diligently work on every Monday morning.”

Another reason the event is such a huge success is the “Famous Hot Chicken Salad.” Forty-three years ago, the ladies had a luncheon in the manse one day and the hot chicken salad was such a hit that the ladies began planning the salad smorgasbord for more people to enjoy.

The event grew in no time and soon the fellowship hall was not nearly large enough to hold the smorgasbord. The salad smorgasbord was then moved to the American Legion, outgrew that and moved to the Edwardsburg High School in the cafeteria, again outgrew that and moved to the current location the high school gymnasium.

Tickets are still available. Contact the Joann Mackling at 663-245 to get your tickets right away.
