Mary F. Green, 95, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at West Woods of Niles following a lengthy illness.

She was born on May 13, 1918, in Lecoma, Miss. to the late Drew F. and Mattie O. (Elliott) Leonard.

Mary married Earl W. Smith and he preceded her in death. Some years later, Mary wed Ben H. Green and he passed away in 1970. Mary was an excellent cook and enjoyed the many years she worked in the kitchen at the Four Flags Hotel. She also worked for many years at Simplicity Pattern Company. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her family, as well as crocheting.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Phillip, Frank, Willis and Earl Leonard and a sister Mable Plank.

Mary is survived by her loving remaining family and caregivers; a niece Jean (Terry) Rice of Niles; step-daughter Betty True of Niles and many great nieces and nephews and friends.

In keeping with Mary’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Morris Chapel Cemetery in Niles.

The family of Mrs. Green wishes to thank the staff at West Woods of Niles, especially the 100 hall, for their many years of love and care shown.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Green’s memory to West Woods of Niles.
