Phyllis Sheldon (McLaughlin), 69, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, in Rockford, Mich.
Phyllis grew up in Fremont and lived in Cassopolis for the past 36 years with her husband Stephen Sheldon, who preceded her in death. The last nine months she spent living with her sister, Bonnie and brother-in-law Don.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Bonnie (Don) Dygert of Rockford, Mich.; brother, Timothy McLaughlin of McHenry, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Phyllis was born in White Cloud, Mich. and graduated with honors from Fremont High School and Western Michigan University.
Phyllis was an Elementary teacher before retirement. She was a great bowler and golfer. Phyllis loved to fish on Lake Michigan and enjoyed playing Euchre. The memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., Rockford, MI 49341. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Her final resting place will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles, Mich. Memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 4809 Eastern Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
