Nancy Carol Kelley, 76, of Dowagiac, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2014, in Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis.

WagnerlogoNancy was born Dec. 10, 1937 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Michael and Edith (Sibley) Krager.
She married Donald E. Kelley in Jones. He survives. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Alice Krager and Beverly Krager.

Nancy will be remembered for the countless number of cakes she made for all occasions. She loved to play piano, organ, and accordion. She loved telling jokes. Nancy was an avid gardener and canner. As a young woman, she worked at Rudy’s in Dowagiac and then as a teacher’s aide in Cassopolis. She eventually went to work at Porky’s and enjoyed talking to all the people that came in to the store.

Nancy will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Donald E. Kelley of Dowagiac; four sons, Rick (Nancy) Myers of Dowagiac, Donald Kelley of Vandalia, Michael Kelley of Dowagiac, Pat (Amy) Kelley of Cassopolis; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Ruby Moore of Dowagiac, Loretta (Ken) Koch of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Mabel Hartman of Dowagiac, Barbara Morgan of Dowagiac, Rose (Bob) Eggleston of Marcellus, Linda (Ed) Palmer of Dowagiac; two brothers, John (Sandy) Krager of Vandalia, Michael (Sally) Krager of Dowagiac; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. Mrs. Kelley’s remains will be laid to rest in South Wayne Cemetery, Dowagiac.
The family prefers contributions be made in Nancy’s memory to Cass County Council on Aging, Post Office Box 5, Cassopolis, MI 49031.
