The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning in effect until 4 a.m. Monday for Cass and Berrien counties.
The winter storm warning has been cancelled.
The blizzard warning means heavy snow will transition into lake effect snow showers throughout the rest of the evening. Storm totals accumulations of 12 to 16 inches with high amounts expected.
North winds will shift northwest and increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 40 mph this evening. This will cause severe blowing and drifting snow overnight with blizzard conditions.
Temperatures will drop drastically overnight with lows between -5 and -15. Deadly wind chills between -30 and -45 can be expected through Tuesday.
Cass County Sheriff Joe Underwood has asked that people stay off the roads.
The Cass County Road commission has pulled the plows off the roadways for the remainder of the night due to poor visibility.
