Niles captures Cardinal Holiday Hoops crown

COLDWATER — The Niles girls basketball team used 10 3-pointers to easily defeat Fremont (Ind.) 68-51 to win the Coldwater Cardinal Holiday Hoops championship Saturday night.
The Vikings (7-1) raced out to a 16-6 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Niles led 38-25 at halftime. Fremont cut the lead to 10 (57-47) entering into the final quarter, but was outscored by the Vikings 11-4 in the last eight minutes.
Libby Moody led Niles with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Elyse Zimmerman added 17 points, Jazmin Brann 12 and Tatyanna Goodson 10.
Shae Rhonhouse had a game-high 22 points for Fremont.
