Chieftains fall to South Haven

SOUTH HAVEN — The Dowagiac boys basketball team tasted defeat for the first time this season as host South Haven rolled to an 80-52 win over the Chieftains Friday night.
Dowagiac (2-1, 0-1 Wolverine West) got off to a slow start and could never quite catch the Rams, who are 4-0 overall.
South Haven jumped out to a 24-11 first quarter lead and led 44-26 by intermission.
Dowagiac managed just eight points in the third quarter as the Rams opened up a 25-point advantage (59-34) heading into the final quarter.
Brandon Winchester-Jones scored 23 points to lead the Chieftains, while Kyle Solloway added 15.
Keylonte Gaines scored a game-high 26 points for South Haven.
