The Niles girls basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season to defeat visiting Portage Northern in Big 16 Conference West Division action Friday night.

But it wasn’t easy.

The Vikings (5-1, 3-1 West) had to rally from a 12-point halftime deficit to beat the Huskies, who drop to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the West Division.

Jazmin Brann, Libby Moody and Emily Gaines all scored 12 points to lead the Vikings. Brann also had five rebound and three steals. Moody finished with three rebounds and a steal.

Tatyanna Goodson contributed six points and 11 rebounds, while Elyse Zimmerman added five points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Maddie Franks led the Huskies and all scorers with 20 points.
