Donald J. Regan died suddenly and peacefully on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28, in the arms of his beloved wife, Roberta. He was 85 years old.

He was born in Dodgeville, Wis., to Ellen and Philip Regan. He attended Loyola University and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit.

He met his one true love, Bobbie Regan and they were married in Royal Oak, Mich., on June 12, 1952.

He worked for Whirlpool Corporation in St. Joseph and they lived for many years on Dewey Lake in the Sister Lakes area. He later finished his career working at Gibson Appliance in Greenville, Mich., as the regional sales manager.

Throughout his career they moved their family many times to Ohio, Texas and Buchanan before eventually came back “full circle” to Indian Lake, where they lived a rich and full life filled with fun and friends.

Don was civic minded. He served as a constable in Silver Creek Township and on the Dowagiac School Board for several years. He was the past president of the Indian Lake Association for many years and had a great love of the lake.

He always made time to talk to his children and his friends. He and Bobbie loved their ordinary days, watching the lake, enjoying drinks with friends on their porch, and traveling. They have been fortunate to enjoy trips to all parts of the world, including an amazing one to Ireland with all of their children. They spent 20 plus years covering the U.S. in their motor homes alone and with friends.

He loved to play golf with his sons, cruise with his daughters, play cards with neighbors, all-things Irish and he was an avid reader. He was a Notre Dame fan. He especially loved interactions with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don enjoyed respect from everyone he met and will be remembered for the generosity he gave to his family and friends.

He is survived by his eight children, Sharon (Dan) Brown, Michael (Gemma) Regan, Kathleen (Mike) Hover, Laurie (Mike) Miller, Tim (Alina) Regan, Donald Jr. (Terri) Re-gan, Philip (Katrina) Regan and Lonnie (Danielle) Przybylinski; 24 grandchildren, Joel (Jennifer), Regan (Dave), Craig (Holly), Rachel, Sarah (Jon), Mariah (Darrin), Eric, McKenna, Katie (Tom), Holli (Mike), Lucy, Chelsea, Kayla, Ali, Erin, Ellen, Victoria, Danny, Ashley (Matt), Ariel, Bailey, Riley, Zack and Luke; great grandchildren, Ashley, A.J, Marley, Aliyah, Macey, Gibson, Nolan, Chase, Presley, Cameron, Madison, Sawyer and Avery; sister, Helen Lang; brothers-in-law Bill and Russell Widger; and sister-in-law Susan (George) Jennings.
