Howard Twp. man transported to Kalamazoo following leaf burning fire

A Howard Twp. man was transferred by air to Kalamazoo following a leaf burning accident Sunday.

Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that his department responded to the accident in the 2400 block of Dick St. Bobby Wayne Quick, 60, was burning leaves when he apparently lost his balance and fell into the burning leaf pile. A passerby saw the subject attempting to get out of the burn pile and stopped to assist him.

SMCS ambulance transported the subject to the Niles airport where he was then transported by Air Care to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Also assisting at the scene was the Howard Twp. Fire Dept.
