Sheryl Illene Haines, 54, of Vandalia, was called home to the Lord Jesus, Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, in her residence in Vandalia.
Sheryl was born March 31, 1959 in Niles to Ralph and Dorthy Mae (Dungey) MacNeal, Sr. She married Harland D. Haines, Sr., June 5, 1982, in Calvin Township. He survives.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorthy MacNeal Burton; one sister, Renee Lynn MacNeal; and one brother, Ralph MacNeal, Jr.

Sheryl was always there for family and friends. She enjoyed attending any events when her grandchildren were involved. Sheryl was called “Babe Ruth” for her ability to hit when she played softball. She was a heck of a bowler and loved bingo.

Sheryl will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Harland D. Haines, Sr. of Vandalia; one daughter, Kristi (Larry) Harris of Elkhart, Ind.; one son, Shaun MacNeal of Elkhart; one step daughter, Kimberly Widman of LaPorte, Ind.; one step son, Harland D. Haines, Jr. of Portage, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Rashaun Smith, Malik Haines, Desirae Smith, Aiden Wetzel, Arianna Wetzel, Austin Wetzel, Keyon MacNeal, Haley Rose Haines; her father, Ralph MacNeal, Sr. of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Eula MacNeal of Kalamazoo; two brothers, Randolph (Diana) MacNeal of Elkhart, Mark MacNeal of Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Nov. 1 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 in Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis, with the Rev. Michael Anderson officiating.
